The Everglades Challenge 2014

The 2014 Everglades Challenge begins this next Saturday, the first of March, with a record number of paddlers and sailors.  We might see a proa if the Crazy Russian gets it finished in time.
You can keep track of all the participants through the Watertribe Challenge tracking page.

  2. Not getting any work done this weekend! Sorry to see that John (Karank) and Crazy Russian dropped out. CR did not mention if he was pantographing the ama to help steer; I am very curious about that. And his rudders seemed more than ample to overpower ama rotation. Dying to know....

  3. Another case of combining the shake down sail with the start of the race.

  4. Yes, Gary, I think you are exactly correct about CrazyProa. But I love his videos showing his adventures in mosquito-slapping and long distance driving with his wife!

BTW, spent yesterday making a scarfing jig and have now officially cut wood on my Va'a motu build. Wish me luck!

  5. Yup, the shakedown. And it is the mistake that I committed too, but in my case I was lucky -- changing from single to double outrigger did not change any essential balance in the parts.
